How it all began!
A bit about me…
Hi there! And welcome to my website and blog, it’s great to have you here! My name is Lizzie, and I am the face behind Eliza Vintage Events. My business has been born out of a passion for all things pretty and vintage. I just love the look and nostalgia it brings, it makes me smile! I am also a hippie at heart and love glamping!
I live in a village near Lincoln with my 3 children, 2 girls and 1 boy who are all now at secondary school age. I also have a dog and a cat – Willow the Lhasapoo and Chloe who is a Persian. They keep me company whilst working from home! During my working life I have worked in many types of businesses after leaving college with a Diploma in Business right back in 1996. I gained valuable experience in different areas of commerce and industry, from finance to manufacturing, public health to education.
I completely branched off over the next few years after having my first daughter and went back to college to study a Diploma in Complementary Therapies. I became a qualified Masseuse and an Aromatherapist. I carried on with this whilst I had all my babies, then I went back to University when I was 35 and completed a Diploma in Sports Massage. It was a flexible job for me working from home whilst juggling family life, but eventually massage took a toll on my hands and wrists, they began to ache and were quite painful and seizing up more and more frequently. I became less and less interested in massage because of this, and I think I had massaged more people than I could ever remember, so I decided to call it a day! I learnt tons of anatomy and physiology throughout my career, even healing and counselling work, and it is something which I will always take with me for the rest of my life. I do love to help people in any which way I can.
One of my interests has always been the vintage and retro scene. From clothing/fashion to memorabilia, cars and caravans, hairstyles to homeware, I have been to many vintage fairs, shops and festivals. My favourite shop is Snooper’s Paradise in Brighton! Around 2014 I had an epiphany! I had always wanted a VW Splitscreen Campervan, mainly to do up and use for me and the kids to get away in. This never came to fruition because I could just not find the money for even a shell of a camper so I ditched the idea. This was around the same time I noticed, after perusing Ebay one night that old vintage and retro caravans were becoming the trend for people to buy and do up for themselves or for businesses. This seemed a more feasible idea, it was a much cheaper option, (well kind of) and perhaps I could use the caravan for a business as well as getting away in with my family!
After a few months of looking around, I bought a Cheltenham Sable Caravan which was built in the 1960’s, she is so pretty and a real head-turner, and after devising a business plan and brainstorming a very quirky business idea she was sent away for a few months to a company in West Sussex for a complete renovation, it was so exciting! I planned out how I wanted her to look inside, what décor she was going to have and what I was going to be using her for.
So this is when Eliza Vintage Events was born! In 2015, I started this business and Eliza is my brand. My beautiful little caravan! My business concentrates on providing bespoke events for people from all areas. Whether this be private, corporate, sponsorship, advertising and more! Eliza can be used for absolutely anything, she was even offered a space at the VIP area at V Festival! Eliza is great for children’s events, and proves extremely popular at weddings and hen parties. Alongside her we offer glamping experiences in our beautiful bell tents. Again, we have lots of areas of hire to suit all businesses or private individuals wanting something different, unique and special for their event.
For me, my business is a personal adventure. It gives me such a buzz to be able to tap into my creative streak, and it makes me feel like I am doing my best to help people achieve the event they want for their special day. I love being creative, from the planning to the execution of the event. I have a strong attention to detail, and nothing is rarely missed! Apart from the odd slice of cake during a tea party perhaps!
Moving my business forward into 2019, we will be expanding the bell tent side of things so watch this space for more events, products and services we will be offering you. We would like to be able to make bell tents and other amazing glamping products available for you to purchase, and you can guarantee that these are recommended by us because we use them!
